Copyright Application


In accordance with the international laws on Intellectual Property, copyright consent must be formally obtained in writing for the reproduction of any Dame Laura Knight, or her husband Harold Knight RA  works from The Estate Of Dame Laura Knight DBE RA RWS.

COMPANIES OR INDIVIDUALS REQUIRING ARTIST COPYRIGHT CONSENT:

  • For Artistic work please complete Form 1, both Sections 1 and 2.
    Covering consent to reproduce images of the artist’s paintings, drawings, etchings etc.
  • For Literary work please complete Form 2.
    Covering consent to quote extracts from books, articles, correspondence etc written by the artist.

The above Consents relate to both Dame Laura Knight DBE RA RWS and also to her husband Harold Knight RA.

Please Note that 20% of all artist copyright fees received on Laura Knight and Harold Knight works are distributed to The Artist’s Benevolent Institution of Burlington House, London, Registered Charity No. 212667; a charity set up for poor and distressed artists.

WAIVING OF ARTISTIC COPYRIGHT FEES:
Websites:
The Estate will waive artistic copyright fees to any Public Gallery, Company, partnership or business wishing to display the artist’s works on their websites providing they enter into an Agreement with the Estate.
The Agreement requires such parties to meet certain conditions on quality of image and to implement controls to mitigate copyright infringements. Such controls are to reproduce the image at a low resolution and that all such images must be watermarked.

Any entity displaying Dame Laura Knight DBE RA RWS or Harold Knight RA works on their website without formal consent from the Estate are committing an offence and are liable to prosecution under the international laws of copyright.

REDUCTION OF THE ESTATE'S STANDARD COPYRIGHT FEES:
The Estate provides a discount on most applications from National Public Galleries and on prompt payment of fees.
The Estate on occasion waives and or discounts copyright fees in certain instances where the application is for local registered charities or for specific educational purposes.
